Yeah, I find that kind of annoying too, and I'm not sure why that's done from a story perspective. But if you ARE getting this tax, it means you're probably at the point in the campaign where you are about to retire anyways, and won't miss a few thousand gp after all is said and done. If you really want it to go away, you could invest all your money in gems/jewelry/magic items, so there is no coin in your purse to tax. Or, you can just unset the global flag that create the tax from the console: game.global_flags[549] = 0
