I am just starting KOTB and I didn't even start and noticed a bug. The patch for KOTB 1.0.1 is 1.0.1. This is the first time I have tried to go through so I tried to install the patch. I was told by my computer that there was no patch. I looked in my TOEE folder, in the patch folder, the KOTB folder ended with 1.0.0 and wasn't seeing it. I changed it to 1.0.1 and it updated it. I downloaded the patch from this site. I was updating it as I was looking through the bugs and didn't see this. The Front end now says that KOTB 1.0.1 is complete and I didn't see that when I activated it. Did I do something wrong? I also looked in the folder before I changed the folder name and it said it was 1.0.1.

Okay.... I have just gone through the activation process and had no problems with it. If I understand what you are saying, you are commenting that the folder involved is called 'addons / Keep on the Borderlands 1.0.0' but it is version 1.0.1? That's because the 1.0.1 patch is specifically for the 1.0.0 game and thus is it's add-on. You might have other add-ons for it, like '0Rion's Compleat Fixes for KotB 1.0.0' or 'KotB 1.0.0 NC' or whatever, all patches for the 1.0.0 game (including the 1.0.1 patch) go in the 1.0.0 folder. Does that answer your question?

Alternately, since this is the first time you have installed it, I must ask, did you install 1.0.0 first? The 1.0.1 patch is of course for 1.0.0. Perhaps you should have just downloaded 1.0.1 in its entirety and installed that...

I have only downloaded 1.0.1. And since the Keep on the Borderlands link on this site says that the current patch level is 1.0.1, don't they go together? It is like there is no current patch level for the latest version of TOEE CO8.

    List -o- bugs encountered:

1 - Verifying Hextor infestation quest not being actually assigned after accepting it.

2 - Merchants in Market Place not refreshing inventory, even after waiting 8 days.

3 - When equipped with Full Plate, Keep Guards accuse me of wearing their uniform and attack.

    4 - Can verify that the female dwarf is an ungrateful B I T C H.

5 - Is the Apothecary supposed to disappear from the Market Place?

    ----

Feature request - could we get a bag / box of holding? - Having trouble visualizing hauling a ox up and down cliffs.

It would be humorous if the cat in the caves responded to an attempt to initiate conversation with a long winded diatribe about be trapped in a hole or some type of philosophical rant ( could lead to side quest ? - if nothing else it'd make Sirchet happy, he seems to think everyone should equip themselves with kittens ;-) ).

I'll look into the whole patch issue and let you guys know - Tom, some of those things you are describing (like seeing the cats, and the full plate issue) are things I thought the patch addressed.

I guess that you could imagine that Buttercup (Ox) has a Ring of Levitation piercing one of its nostrils. ;)

    Good Morning Shiny One !

    Patch...let's see.... I'm running KTOB 1.0.1 & the 1.0.1 "Add-on" - am I missing anything?

Seeing cats - Is that a bug? Hope not, I found the encounter to be quite humorous. The suggestion for added feline dialogue was a serious one :) ( Gotta keep Sirchet happy ya know ). Speaking of Sirchet.... Every time my wizard throws her cat at a bugbear, in a Sirchetesque "FTW" manoeuvre, it runs away and hides behind her skirts! How in the heck do you train these things anyway ( all of my normal techniques seem to just cause them to run and hide ) ?

    Bovine levitation - that's ...disturbing.

Please keep in mind that Cat Juggling was made illegal in the mid 80's. ;)

How am I supposed to get to the lizardmen? I've tried this fight a few times and I can't get to them. Any advice?

Hello again. I just decided to restart KotB from scratch so I reactivated it. I installed everything again and went to get items. I found that I could purchase scrolls and weapons. After resting and scribing the scrolls in the shop before the start, my paladin was missing the a weapon. I then went to some chests and I purchased one. In another, there was a suit of armor and 200 platinum. In another chest, there was only two weapons and I could only purchase one. There was one scroll with a price of 994 gold. I think I will reactivate it again and tell you what happens.

I then went back after reactivation and checked everything again. This time, I didn't get the default starting items and got some arrows, bullets, bolts, chain shirts, single axes, leather scale armor, and scrolls. The magic user scrolls I copied and when it came up with failure, I restarted so I could copy all the scrolls. I then looked and I had about 100 platinum after having none. I then went and purchased more scrolls and did the copying again. I noticed that after each failure and reload, I had more money. I now have 100 platinum. I still haven't done the default items yet. I haven't lost any weapons but I think it will happen.

I'm in favour of talking cats myself but some people have found it detracts from the mod and since the cats were always meant to be switched off at a certain point (which we have now reached), I'm going to have to stick by that.

@Messedup - not sure what is going on with your mod but the disappearing weapon issue was reported once before (not previously verified) so I'll look into it.

@Sutemi: is this the bit you mean? Cross the river at this corner and go have at some Lizardmen (your track skill should point you to some tracks in this area).

The missing weapons also happens in TOEE from time to time. The one problem that is really interesting is the making money as you scribe scrolls in the beginning area where you can purchase weapons and the like. It also ends up putting potions, weapons, armor, and money in some chests that were previously fill of weapons. I really like the obscuring mist scroll that costs 994 gold. And this has happened in several different reactivations.

You may not think this as a bug but I feel it is better here than the walkthrough.

I got the slay the hermit quest from the lady in red. My party went and killed him. My paladin DIDN'T fall and I think he should (a bug).

I went back and got the vial and poured it on the shrine after killing the harpies. I killed all the undead (I really don't think that level 2 and 8 hit dice is what the undead priest (don't remember his name) is good). Then I went back to the lady in red and had my paladin talk to her. This time (and only this time) I moved my whole party (1 paladin, 1 ranger, 1 druid, 2 wizards, 2 clerics) close. One option said you sensed her lying and allowed me to attack. So I attacked her and killed her. I didn't get her hit points but I got the sword along with a sapphire ring (4800 gps with one set of merchants scales I got from the beginning room with the money problems), necklace of natural armor +3, gloves of dexterity +4, and some other items. The watch wasn't around so no problems there. I read the walkthrough and it didn't have this as what could happen.

When I was in the area under the northern pine woods going to the shrine, I saw a cat and I had a fight with some undead. I got 3 rusty swords, cleaned by Nobby. I also got 3 suits of rusty chain mail. These couldn't be cleaned by Nobby. I read in the walkthrough that Nobby is around to clean things. Is this a bug?

That last isn't a bug - imagine individually polishing every link in a suit of chain! A proper armourer (probably with a barrel of sand or something) could do it but Nobby's little stall isn't designed for that soprt of thing and he won't do it.

The 'Paladin falls' thing with the Hermit is a bit hard to mod because there are scenarios in which the Hermit, being mad, will just up and attack you: it's hard to tell whether you have deliberately killed him, killed him in self defense or just an unlucky AoO during the ambush. But certainly there is some point in all that that a Paladin should fall, so that's a bug. And thanks for picking up that bit about being able to sneak attack Maeri from dlg and kill her, I'll amend the walkthrough (which is a work in progress).

Re the starting shop map, I am downloading a new version now and going to install it and have a look.
