I'm having trouble with installing the New Content pack on my GOG install of the game. Having installed the game from the GOG setup (and not into program files, obviously) I've run the installer, and everything seemed fine. However, when I try to activate the modpack in TFE-X, I get this message:

    ToEE Front-End X encountered a serious error:
IO Exception when determining the size of package: invalid CEN header (bad signature)

The program is unable to continue and will now close.
(followed by some information about reporting the bug to the Co8 forum. It also asks for my TFE-X.log, which is here.)

This happens with the 8.0.0 installation, but adding the 8.0.1 patch doesn't fix it. Does anyone know what I've done wrong/what's wrong?

Thanks! Is it really necessary to uninstall Java 6, though? For some reason, 7 has given me problems running certain things (notably Minecraft), so I'm loathe to remove it permanently.

Well, I managed to get it working by manually changing what version the .jar would launch using, then running it directly from the .jar. It's currently installing, thanks for the help!

A few days ago, I had an error trying to load a save ("the save is corrupt"), and haven't been able to boot the game since. That's only background for the bug I'm reporting. One of the steps I took to try to fix it was to reinstall the mudpack, which in the front end lists a lot of "uninstalling" verbiage, but I noticed when I had finished doing the reactivation, the fixes I had put into invensource.mes were still there (i.e. they hadn't been "reverted to default"). Am I misunderstanding the "reactivation" function, or is something not working right?

Yes, pressing the add-on button will show you the list of add-ons, from there you can select the 8.0.1 patch. Also, when you start the game, the loading screen will appear along with the current version of the co8 modpack. Which you can easily verify the version number of the modpack.

There should be no difference, with the gaming options available in Vanilla, Standard, or New Content. The Front-End is capable of changing the max and min of acquirable PC/NPC in the game. For instance, I set the Front-End settings to '8 PCs to 0 NPC.' I launch the game, selected the first five Pregen-PCs and added it to the five visible slots. Don't let the screen deceive you, you can still add 3 more but you can't see it added. You'll see the text on the right-side of your character portrait, it is labeled as 'Has Joined the Party.' That's how you can verify if your PC is added to the invisible slot.

You can compare the original and modified files by, opening the .tfm file of the co8 modpack, located in the root folder of the game. You should atleast have 7zip to do that.

No, I mean I altered invensource.mes manually in notepad, and when I reopened invensource.mes after a reboot and reactivation, the manual changes were still there. I never changed the installer.

Maybe, you put the file in the wrong place/folder. That's why the changes are still intact, and not overwritten.

I left it in the rules folder under data, no moving involved.

    Thanks for your answers, Zoltec.

Now, if someone can also shed light on 3), 4) and 5)... :)

Hello Folks. There's a minor glitch which has been around for a while but I've just got around to writing about it now. When picking up an NPC, once the NPC is in the party, if the PC which spoke to the NPC to do the collecting goes into Sneak mode, the NPC follows suit! Of course, the easy way around it is to make sure you pick up the NPC with a character that's not going to sneak. I started noticing this when I began using a rogue as my lead character...

Salk, when you open a chest it defaults to the reach distance of the weapon you have equipped.
