Another vote to leave it alone. You only have to fight both encounters if you have more than five party members.

But who knows that before ingame? Perhaps the captain could hint at it that a small party would be better to go fishing as larger parties could attract too much unwanted attention?

I'm of the school that believes if you're playing NC, you've already played Vanilla (which limits you to 5 PCs). It's a nice surprise for your first time through with six.

As far as I understood that the limit *to be in more than one fight if you arrive* is 5 *party members*. Not only PC´s but NPC´s too.

No, vanilla is 5 + 3. Eight has always been the maximum party limit; Co8 just allowed for more of them to be PCs.

Since you are severely limited as to buffing before this fight, it is one of the most challenging (unless you leave it to high level). I don't think we should change it.

That settles it then! We will eliminate the current scenario as it stands and replace it with a deadly battle vs. 28 custom CR 1/8 space aliens! And - the battle will occur on three fronts at once! ;)

I try to wait until my sorcerer gets Fireball before I try this- that and my wiz having Stinking Cloud, Grease or Sleep really helps- as does moving a tank towards the rear as that's where the frogs appear. It's a great mid-level challenge, even more so than AoH- keep it as is...:)

YAAAAAY!!!! Gonna whoop me up some 1/8 aliens, (whatever that is) and maybe get a cool ray gun too!

Don't let the nay sayers ruin your vision Gaear ....aliens on three fronts it is.

1/8 alien, that's when your second uncle on your mom's side came from space, right?

On one of my passes through the encounter, I used Charm Animal on the gar and used the gar against the hag. The gar was impressive against the hag. It seemed to hit on her worse than it ever did to my party in any of my other encounters with it.

By using the gar against the hag, the gar gets softened up a bit so when the the lizardmen, frogs and hag are dead, you can take out the gar much easier and get that first sneak attack.

When I ran through it in 7.6, I was surprised when I had a two front battle going on. I was used to taking on the frogs and being careful with my movements so as to not trigger the lizard/hag encounter too soon. When I started it in 7.6 I was like "Uh-Oh. That's new."

    Good encounter. Keep it.

You're lucky- I've only NOT had to fight both the frogs and lizardmen/hag once in all the play throughs of the NC...
