Sirchet, I don't want to distract you from your current work with beta testing, but this is something to consider for the future: would you care to become the new voice of Ronald Rinnwrathi? I'm basing this offer on your experience doing other voiceover work (NWN et al).

Some people love Endarire's rendition of Ronald, others hate it, but what's undeniable is that the audio is of very poor technical quality (8 bit mono with lots of background noise, some horrible levels of clipping, etc.). It's basically not the caliber of material we desire for a 'serious' mod. So, while it's been tolerated for quite a while now, I've always had it in the back of my mind to get it redone.

If Endarire were to come along and not be happy with this, he would of course be at liberty to basically say he and Ronald are a package deal. But at that point I think we'd have to give serious consideration to ... doing without Ronald, as imo the negatives outweigh the positives. (A mod is only as good as its weakest element, and like it or not, the current voice audio for Ronald pretty clearly says "amateur," ... which in turn ultimately extends to all of Co8 whether you were involved with the mod or not. People don't say "Endarire did a poor job on Ronald's voice," they say "Co8 did a poor job on Ronald's voice.")

Anyway, the standards we would need for this on the technical side are 16 bit audio in either mono or stereo. (Based on existing ToEE voices, mono is actually the standard, which makes sense - there is no need for a diverse soundfield coming from a single speaker who is presumably only in one place.) And preferably in a no or minimal background noise environment. You would be at liberty to 'interpret' the Ronald character however you wished and portray him accordingly. I would handle all the technical processing. Bear in mind also that there is a lot of dialog for Ronald, so this would be a fairly significant endeavor.

Let me know what you think. :)

Send me the lines and I'll feel it out.

If I can get the lines to meet my standard I'll pass them along for your approval. ;)

Okay, here is his dialog file. Ronald's lines (as opposed to the PC lines) are the first ones after each paragraph break.

Cuthbertian and Grumishite ... couldn't we come up with any more difficult sounding religious names? ;)

I'm going to have to work hard on this one, been sounding it out and I already hate my first version.

    Greetings!

Please maintain my name in the credits. I wrote much of the original dialog and did the voice acting.

As for re-recording the voiceovers, I'm curious how these turn out! I would like to be able to re-record them myself if things don't go right.

By all means, you certainly have priority in my opinion. I seem to spend to much time on the road lately to do any VO work.
