I'm in 7.3.3 and I just got the precurser to jerkstop (combat poses on exiting WW) exactly the first time I had the Magic Chest (identified and used) in my inventory after resting within. Continuing...
That's interesting ... did we ever consider the EC before? I can't even remember anymore. @shapecharge, play however you want.
During the one successful play through of the WotGS I had, I avoided using the EC outdoors. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it might.
Well I haven't got to one of the areas you want tested above yet, but I can say the pathfinding in hommlet is greatly improved, not sure if this was worked on or just a by product of some of the other fixes to jerkstop and lag you did, but my mouse moves smother across the homlett town and I can set my party to travel great distances and they will all get there without issue. Excellent first sign.
Confirmed. Regular Jerkstop in 7.3.3 Events: Returned from trip to Moathouse after final fights to finish looting. Homlett has not been officially informed of Lareth's death. Just finished leveling to 5. Just left leather worker after selling loot. Nothing seems unusual about this occurrence. I will continue a while to see if it progresses as usual.
I can confirm 2 instances of extreme lag, where the game just locks up for about 2 minutes, then continues as usual. Both were prior to beginning use of the EC, No jerkstop yet though. Path finding in Hommlette seems great though. Just for fun, I started this game with no equipment except a spiked chain and a hatchet gained from feats(weapon focus spiked chain, martial weapons proficiency hatchet) and a shortbow/arrows for my mage. I looted the assassin for weapons and armor mace and crossbow to cleric, got the radiant longsword for my ftr/pal, got a magic dagger from Elmo and a regular dagger from spugnior(later traded for the +1 trader's shortsword) along with the master repeating crossbow for my thief, a random encounter with 3 hobgoblins yielded 3 sets of studded leather for the fighters and druid. The druid(elf) got one of the longswords(and fruella's sling) as did the mage(also an elf). The ftr/barb had his spiked chain from the start. We then took Fruella to play with the frogs. After her unfortunate passing, my human cleric took up her cleaver. We then recruited Furnok who was killed by the greataxe wielding leader of the moathouse bandits. My thief appropriated his ring of invisibility. We sold his +1 dagger and then actually equipped the group with the proceeds. One interesting note. I found two rings for Jay. NG party. I found the first ring in the deklo grove, and the second in the tower spider. I successfully traded both to Jay. 1 for the boots, the second for his cloak. My thief was loving it. LOL. The low equipment start was allot of fun and made possible by the sleep spell.
Running a standard 4 man party, Fighter, Cleric, Rogue and Wizard ... and a Zaxis. I have not experienced any lag or jerk-stop yet. I've cleared the moat-house and am starting on Hickory Branch.
I am running 6 pc's. ftr4/pal"x"; ftr"x"/barb4; cleric, druid; wizard, thief"x"/ftr2. Any npc's will be very short term members at best.
Also running a six man party, so far I have not picked up any NPC's...finished last night, having completed. Moathouse, Emiry meadows except Giant, delko and welkwood parties at 4th level and will be heading to Nulb and Temple today. Have not experienced any jerkstop or lag, and as I mentioned above the pathfinding in Hommlett is greatly improved. Only had one CTD when I left Burnes tower. But none of the freeze ups when leaving the inn which seems to be commen for people. So far every thing looks peachy for the low levels/first phase of the game.
Good news, just battled in the fire temple on level two and no lag, got my ass kicked but I did not experince any lag...since this one seemed to be the quickest to get to I made a beeline for it to give some quick feedback, now I will go back and build some levels and play my more normal way since the other areas needed testing are further along in the game. BUT FIRST REPORT, FIRST TRY for the Fire Temple ran smooth and no lag.
Just got the jerkstop. EC had been used outside once in welkwood bog. Early-midgame. Exploring Nulb, arena 2/3 complete, orc season mentioned but not started, season of witch started. Characters ~6th level. 6 pc's annd Otis. One thing with Otis. We had "borrowed" his equipment. He noticed and got mad but we did not enter combat. WAD? All good aligned group led by a paladin(former fighter). We planned to give him better equipment so he would not be overloaded, but he had all his stuff!
If you've had lag in Hommlet and jerkstop in Nulb, then your experience is completely unprecedented in the history of ToEE. (Actually there was a brief time when jerkstop first started that people rarely reported it in Nulb iirc, but lag has never been seen in Hommlet.)
Sorry, I was not clear. The jerkstop was in Hommlette exiting the WW. Mentioning Nulb was just to give you a picture of how far I was into the game. The lag was also in Hommlette after exiting the WW.
