I was able to get paint today, so I worked on painting the monk, and making some tattoos for him. Here are some images: I hope you like them.
Either that's one big bottle of paint, or you have the steadiest hands in this galaxy. Nice touch with the dragon, btw.
It's a big bottle. Truly, the bottle is just under 2.5 inches. The mini itself is 2 inches tall, or 5.4 cm., really, which makes it quite large. I had estimated that it would be smaller, but apparenty failed in that. I always seem to forget about the head adding to the overall size. I thought I would not say what the tatto depicts, to see if people would be able to tell, and I am happy that you saw it and liked it. Here is the original design: Next time I might go for a colored tattoo, I have good blue paint for "woad" using barbarians etc.
A couple of shots of the monk wielding a nunchaku. I think with some extra painting, this mini should be ok:
I am also planning on making a dragonborn (Paladin, Warrior or Barbarian I am not sure yet). So far I've made his shield: Inspired by the cover of a book I've been reading. I am also interested in making some low level monsters, here is a rather unsuccessful Dire rat: The good thing about this rat is that it can stand on all fours, and it can stand on its hind legs in two different positions, as a sign of being more "aggressive". Other than that, its mouth came out too big. .
Thanks, here is a somewhat better image of the shield, it seems daylight helps. it's 1 inch and 1/4 of an inch in diameter, btw.
This one was painted. It was given three hands of black for coating, and then it was dry-painted bronze. I am really fond of this color, tbh. Afterwards I applied colorless gloss varnish, and now I am toying with the idea of giving it a reddish varnish as well, but I don't really want to mess with the color too much. If ever I manage to cast moulds, I might make an actual metal amulet of that .
Still WIP, of course, the torso and head of the Dragonborn, unpainted: It's one inch. Btw, his left eye looks "shallow" because this was where the light was coming from.
Dovakiin? Oh, wait that's Skyrim talk. heh heh Looks great! I bet it comes together even better with color. btw, he was disarmed? Sorry couldn't resist.
Lol, @ the Dovakiin, that was the exact same comment I heard a few days ago about the shield. . It would fit much better with a Skyrim character, though, since DnD Dragonborn hate dragons, and therefore would not use them on their shields, although, thinking about it, one should normally be more inclined to place the face of someone he/she hates on a shield, that is, an object that is bound to take some beating. He currently has no arms as part of a new technique I am using, and which I first deployed in making the monk, according to which the wire goes only to the joints of the arms (and possibly legs) in order to create a figure that will be able to change stance. Hopefully this will work well with the Dovak.... eeeeeeh, I meant Dragonborn, because they have thick limbs, and should be able to accomodate the wire better. I am also planning on keeping the armor to a minimum, since he already has natural scale mail for most of his body. Legs should be easiler to make, three clawed toes and that's it. . Other than that, he is currently disarmed as a sign of good will, though he still has the dragon breath (a euphimism for morning breath) .
Here is the complete (unpainted) Dragonborn "action figure". Unfortunatelly, he came out a bit leggy, and is just short of 2.5 inches tall.
That's Dragonborn 4e version, right? Do they get wings? Looks pretty good, can't wait to see it all decked out.
