The north road patrol must not have reached the necessary death count. Are you sure there are none left?

    You could try:

    Code:
    game.party[0].reputation_remove(47)
That would work if your party leader got the reputation and is still the party leader, but it would also remove the other effects of having that rep, such as getting the Gremlich encounter.

I had a similar problem, but it seemed I had mistaken a road patrol for the actual group I was supposed to fight.

I had run into the patrol pretty near the end of the road and thought they were the "end of the road group".

Have you tried walking your group as far as they can possibly go in every direction out of town?

I'll try that, thank you very much. Do you think that AFTER I get peaceful conversation I could set my rep back?

    Yeah you could.

    Code:
    game.party[0].reputation_add(47)
This all assumes that game.party[0] received the rep in the first place, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's scripted. (In vanilla it was often whomever happened to talk.)

So there was one left? That's good - it means the counter's working.

So, reporting how it went with old man attacking me right after I entered the house. Removing the reputation helped. I was able to begin the conversation. After the conversation I set the rep back. Then after I went outside there were loads of foes to deal with. Good. So this resolves the problem. Thanks Gaear.

    BUT...

Then I went to the inn to spank some more of those evil-doers. And here the problem occurred. Approximately halfway to the inn from the Nevets' house my party stopped and refused to move. I saw the blue circles for a moment and then they disappeared. I tried several times. Nothing. The destination circles appeared and disappeared again. So I thought, hmm, I'll use the world map and choose Hommlet South - that transported me right into the middle of the enemies. But they were stuck. No movement, no animation. The combat was triggered but as soon as it was first enemy's turn, the enemy would do nothing and I was stuck. Reloading didn't help, it even affected my party in the same way. Map animations were OK but the characters were still. I haven't tried to reload anymore after that but exited the game disappointed.

I don't believe this is connected to the reputation problem as I experienced that once more, much earlier in the game, right next to the Hommlet tower's door (Burne and Rufus place). So has any1 experienced this issue?

Yeah, what you have been experiencing is jerkstop. There are 2 forms of Jerkstop:

    1. You give your characters a movement order and they stop moving on their own volition before they reach the destination that you gave them.

    2. Your characters are frozen in combat stances (and so are all of the NPCs elsewhere on the map) when your characters appear on the Hommlet exterior map (either by travelling there using the World Map or exiting a building in Hommlet, especially when exiting the Inn of the Welcome Wench).

Jerkstop only happens on the Hommlet map (but never inside buildings).

In my playthrough of 7.0.0 NC, I never experienced jerkstop. But then, I meticulously tried to avoid getting jerkstop by not using the Hommlet sign-post or travelling to South Hommlet when using the World Map interface. I only got my characters up to level 5 and I certainly did not start the War of the Golden Skull.

I've only ever experienced jerkstop around the Inn of the Welcome Wench, Brother Smyth's shop, maybe along the road between those places and the Church of Saint Cuthbert, and maybe outside the Church of Saint Cuthbert as well (I'm not sure). I've never experienced jerkstop near Rufus & Burne's keep.

Other players have also reported experiencing jekstop during the War of the Golden Skull. Jerkstop seems to go hand-in-hand with the War of the Golden Skull. You'll just have to put up with jerkstop as you do the War of the Golden Skull (until hopefully the Circle of Eight team discover the cause of and eliminate jerkstop).

Circle of Eight forum member mmonagle once reported that the worst jerkstop that he has EVER experienced was when he tried Sitra Achara's beta Reactive Earth Temple mod. It took him AGES to move his characters out of the Earth Temple after the combat!

This is false. After purchasing this game the week it came out, I ended up quitting playing because of jerkstop, along with other bugs. I played it again a few months later after patch #1 came out, and I would still see it outside the inn, and walking down to the leather seller.

    So it did precede Co8.

Really? That's the first I've heard of that. My impression was that it started being reported after Co8 v5.5, but if what you say is true it changes everything.

When you had it in vanilla, was it exactly as it manifests in Co8 (frozen mobs, movement failure, etc.)?

Similar problem, but with the first battle, defeat the town defense attack. I'm very sure I killed everybody there. I combed every inch of the town for rogue fighters, spread my characters at the corners then have them converge to the Inn. Nada! Nothing! Frustrated, I raised a Hextorite (a random fighter from the original fight) then killed him again. It worked!!!

    How does this end?

I have killed all the Hexorites, after some searching, sure I killed all of them
When I went to Church, part of my dialog said, "I have killed all the Hexorites " (Or something close to that) So I assume I am done with this quest.........

    But.......... what now?

    Is this the end?
I was expecting/hoping for some climatic movie to annouce victory/the end.
    But.. nothing...............

    By the way
AWESOME end climatic battle....... LOTS of small battles to fight with minimal to no rest.
Glad I had a lot of fireballs and other massive area attacks.

Amazingly AWeSOME work on this Gaear (and who ever else was involved)
I really appreciate your continued effort on this ToEE. I love the Turn based combat, and in fact have a hard time playing the "live action" combat that seems to be the norm for most rpg games
    THANKS!!!
