    @ Gaear

    - I'm glad the game CTD after the fight then, so I can reload the save before it, so I won't lose my gear :D (I did loot every enemy afterwards to see if my stuff was in any of them, but I didn't think to check the map, seeing as I don't normally think of random encounter maps to have gear lying around.)

    - I recall the Flaming Longsword +1 being named Flametongue before I installed the Co8 mod in vanilla? Also, here's the reference of it in Gazra's Game guide for console use;

    "{4135}{Flame Tongue is a magic +1 greatsword that is enchanted to do an extra 1d6 of fire damage per strike, as well as an extra 1d10 of fire damage on a critical hit. It also allows the wearer to use Scorching Ray once per day, as per the spell. / Enhancement Bonus: +1 / To Hit Bonus: +1 / Damage: 2d6+1 / Damage Type: Slashing / Additional Damage: 1d6 fire damage +1d10 extra fire damage on a critical hit / Critical Range: 19-20/x2 / Weapon Proficiency: Martial, Greatsword}"

    - By the way, after I read the descriptions of Frost brand and flametongue, I have to wonder at their extra effects. Does Flame Tongue really allow you to use scorching ray, and does frost brand really absorb the first 10 points of fire damage?

    Winston, I'm using a HP keyboard sold in the UK, and I have found that to activate the console I need to press ¬ (SHIFT and `, the top left key beneath the ESC key), not ~ as seems to be the case with US keyboards. Is that what you have done?

    When specifically, and who were you fighting?

    Did you pay attention to the SB spokesman?

    In that case something else must be wrong. No idea what though ...

    ~

    btw, I just read an old post by HK about permamnent spell effects, and he said that oftentimes spell effects are attached to a PC's headgear. So anybody who has issues with persistent spell graphics should try unequipping the affected PCs hat/helm/etc.

    Gaear thank you for addressing my game issues. I understand that a fix has been made available for the "angry old man," however I still have the problem AFTER applying the fix. My root directory is C:/Program Files/GOG.com/Temple of Elemental Evil, and I extracted patch files there. The .rar contains 3 folders, but only one folder has files, and these files have replaced the existing files in my directory (modules/ToEE/maps...). Perhaps this is just me, but I can't see how I may have done this wrong. As there seems no other way around it I'll look for an earlier save and lose the Hextor Rat rep, if that's the cause of the problem.

    As far as WotGS jerkstop goes, can that also happen in combat situations, causing all sorts of freezing (of enemies, party spells etc)? I haven't found another post mentioning this issue, and never had it happen until the WotGS (and not during any of the big battles). If there is that possibility, no need to reply and I'll assume that's the case and hope it doesn't happen next time. Hopefully it's not because I saved during combat - though I don't make a habit of it I may have once or twice.

    See the WotGS thread (page 3) for a console fix for the angry old man issue.

    http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7921&page=3

    You have all the right files for the original fix. However, they don't work if you already have the Hextor Rat reputation. If you don't yet have the rep, the files will work because all they do is remove the angry old man's Hextor faction, which is what causes him to react unfavorably to the Hextor Rat rep.

    Yes, although it's probably not so much to do with combat really. It does seem to stem from having a large number of potential combatants spread out over a large no-fog-of-war area with all of them running scripts all the time and some of them walking waypoints, etc. All these things happening concurrently seems to really tax the game engine. So in that sense it is specific to (or exacerbated by) WotGS. Still, you should avoid saving during combat.

    Ok
    I need a little help to continue with the new content quest

    I have done most of the early new content.
    Past the moat house re spawn
    Been to Vernbobonc, talked with Wilc..... started Slavers quest (but not really overly interested in completing or persueing it)

    Came back to Hommlet and talked with Brother Smythe, he suggested I talk with ?Someone new in town?
    However I quickly went through this and do not remember the name he gave me
    Who is this person I need to talk to? Where is he/she?

    I think I am ready to take on forces of Hextor? and or start War of Golden Skull section

    Note: This is FANTASTiC work, Amazingly good
    However, I think Smythe tells you ONE time............ then every time you talk to him you get no info. I guess I need to pay attention and/or write it down.
    Would be nice if this appeared in the journal log and or Smythe tells you again

    I had problems with a couple of the NC quests introduced in the v7.0 modpack. The Deities and Demigods quest couldn't be completed, since Lady Asherah didn't respond after I killed the four Balors (couldn't initiate dialogue).

    On a side note - does alignment determine the opponent in the quest? I've heard some people having to fight avatars of Iuz or St. Cuthbert. Is there a list of which alignments match which opponents? The four Balors are seriously underpowered, they just stood there casting spells while I killed them off one by one. I was looking forward to fighting the Iuz avatars solo with a CG party.

    Also, I couldn't start the Gremlich quest despite completing the Monster Mash quest. I tried the console fix suggested by Gaear:

    "To get the guards outside city hall (in Verbobonc) to talk to you about the Gremlich, you probably need the following flag fix in the console:

    game.global_flags[984] = 0"

    but it didn't work. Do you need the Hextor Rat reputation (I completed their Contract on Canon Thaddeus quest without turning them in).

    Finally the some of the Hommlet encounters in WotGS: Defender gave serious jerk stop problems. I was able to force past them (kept clicking on the ground to produce short distance movement) and complete the quest, but maybe they could be fixed in v7.1

    Overall, the new version is even better than v6.0. The new content and the large scale battles in WotGS are great. I hope to replay it once the remaining bugs are fixed. Great job guys!

    Re. the Fire Temple bugs.

    I reproduced both bugs.

    For the Oolhgrist problem - it seems that Alrrem needs a 'return SKIP_DEFAULT' added to his san_dialogue script for it to work. (as noted in the Whaddaya Know thread ;) )

    The second one was pretty weird. I somehow managed to get game.global_vars[14] to 6, while there are 5 ogres in the cave. Apparently one of them fires san_dying twice sometimes. ToEE general FUBAR syndrome, it seems. The other time I tried, it worked fine, though.

    mmonagle, can you check in the console game.global_vars[14] and see what it returns?

    Anyway, assuming that's the problem, here's the fix for both issues. mmonagle, I would appreciate if you could test it.

    (also, there were duplicate line entries in the Alrrem dialogue file, I corrected that too)

    BTW, I've encountered a bug while testing: Hextorites were spawning outside the Ogre Cave, when they clearly shouldn't have. (I hadn't initiated any NC in that playthrough)

    Alright, we'll add 'quests' (about the only thing we can do) stating that Smyth has put you in touch with such and such and where they can be found. You'll complete the quests when you make contact, but they'll be like a 0 level CR.

    You can find Ariakas in the town defense.

    ed.

    Oooh, I bet that'll magically fix the inexplicable 300 node problems. :thumbsup:

    Also the Hextors aren't supposed to be at the ogre cave at all and will be gone next time.

    Yes, I press SHIFT and `/~ together (the key under the escape key), and the console does not appear. I remember using the console before the Co8 modpack when I was a little cheater. Do I have to put an extra command in the ToEE application to start up like -console or something?

    Don't worry about this one, it was just a regular CTD. I finished fighting the SB random encounter and I think I was back in hommlett, so it was just one of those random crashes.

    Will do next time ;)

    I believe you get it from having one of the reputations of telling on the SB in verbo. I ratted them out after I was sent to kill the dwarves in nulb, and Darlia was then in the prison cell in verbo's constabulary. I think I talked to him down there and a while later, the guard said darlia was let go, and I got the encounter.

    edit;

    Gaear, this may be relevant, but when I was in the nodes, particularly the earth node and fire node, there was a lot of screen freezing. The earth node was dangerous, if I moved the screen while my characters were walking, I had 2 instances where the screen froze and never unfroze. Just putting this in because IIRC I saw in GM that you had been doing stuff to try to reduce freezing in the nodes.

    I re did the SB encounter, got all my gear back but one. Might have missed a chest or my monk not having a weapon could have made the empty chest. Anyway, on that fight, two things. First, would it be possible to put all the gear in one chest? It feels a bit strange that the SB would put one of each of my things in a chest by itself. (They must carry a lot of chests!) Also, the forest tyrants (beholders) aren't as good when casting ice storm. I found that if one ice storm is already in effect on your characters, all ice storms cast after the first one won't damage them at all if the first one is still there. So I got hurt by one ice storm, while there were about 5 cast on my party. Perhaps a different spell could be used instead?

    -Monk ability Abundant step is really messed up for me. First off, it seems to only be availible to you in the area you just rested in. E.G. I rested in the Welcome Wench, my monk's radial menu had monk's belt availible. Walk out the door, it wasn't there. Second, there doesn't seem to be any sort of control as to where you teleport to with it, because whenever I use monks belt (for abundant step) my monk dissapears and goes completely off screen into the black part of the map that doesn't have anything in it.
