After clearing out everything in the moathouse again, inside and out when I go to Kent to complete the quest he just says ,"hi" and my only option is to exit. I read the note leftover that talks about a witch to the east but no new spots on my map open up, and the eastside exit area is also clear as well. I've gone through with a fine tooth comb twice looking for any monsters or items I might have missed and can't find anything. The only thing left is Mother; whom I figure you can kill if you want to; but is put there to be another NPC selling specialized magical potions. After not getting any response from Kent (the kid) (and while I spoke to Brother Smyth about the mission nothing ever got entered into my logbook, yet all the monsters were there when I arrived) and the logbook missing entry I'm at a loss as to what detail I've missed that's holding me back?
Did you choose to turn the letter over and look at the back? You should certainly re-read the letter dropped by the witch ... carefully.
I actually just had a problem along these lines... But for me, the witch is not spawning in Lareth's room like she should be. I cleaned out everything else EXCEPT her ... I don't seem to have the option ... just an empty room. Went and cleaned out a little in the Temple, I'll be heading back there to see if it's still a problem. Anyone else experience this?
Noticed the letter and re-read it while in the moathouse the first time. Just went back to get it out of my minute chest and the note is gone; the chest ate it . Do you remember the item # it is so I can respawn it in order to re-read it again. I remember it making mention of a witch and what I thought was east of the gnarley forest, so was surprised when a new spot on the map didn't show up, or of course I missread it. edit Is it possibly to reset the quest with the console to untouched or not started in order to do it over again to get the note back? In loooking through the mes files I'm not sure on which moathouse quest the respawn one is and whether or not the idea will work or potentially corrupt the savegame?
Do you mean the chest ate your magic item just like the note that comes in it said? Shocking!! The nerve of such a chest. I'm pretty sure its 11303, but I think it's a one time item and may crash your game. This is just an assumption mind you, I'm hoping one of the most skilled scripters will step in here.
It is 11098. This is a good example of why we discourage console use. sirchet has of course nothing but the purest of intentions, but proto #11303 is null. If you had used the console to 'give' yourself that item, nothing would happen and the game would go on. But next time you tried to load a save from that map, the game would crash looking for the non-existant proto which was supposed to be there. And then, having forgotten about your console misadventure, you would say, "My game's crashing at the Moathouse! How hard is it to make a mod that doesn't crash?! You guys suck!" And then you'd go on to tell your friends, "Co8 mods are unstable - don't use them!!!" (I don't mean you specifically, Osaka, just illustrating a point.)
A small note saying 11302 and 11303 both "Drow Note" are null, (do not use) would also have prevented this mis-information giving. It's a real shame that Gaear has seen through my evil plan to make folks talk badly about the Co8 mod community. I'll just have to come up with an even more subtle method of nurturing malcontent.
I can appreciate how destructive the console can be, I see it is the last tool in the toolbox to fix something broken or a bug that's popped up and broke critical part of the storyline that otherwise you'd be unable to proceed without it. With respect to the moathouse quest, I sincerely believe something isn't right with it. Ever since I started it nothing proceeded in the normal fashion. I spoke to brother Smyth who told me to talk to (what I endearing call insanely annoying) Kent who only knows how to say ,"do you like cake" to get info on the quest. When I spoke to him the very first time he spoke about a witch in the moathouse. At this point nothing new showed up in my logbook; that gave me a bad feeling that I hadn't officially started the quest. When I showed up at the moathouse it was fully populated so figured things were ok. Now that I got the note back and finished the drow off (which was a great little battle) and then spoke with the witch and then got an amulet from her and then she runs off. I go back to town and talk to Kent who asks me, "have you ever seen a dragon before?" (this kid has annoyed me nearly to the point of turning evil and striking him down with a prismatic spray) each time I try to talk to him after the quest (I assume) is finished. All this little pecker head of a waste of flesh seems to be able to do is ask me about cake and dragons; am I missing something or should the quest be finished? The fact that it never showed up (and still hasn't) shown up in my logbook seems to make it feel as if its bugged and according to the game I never officially started it. Any suggestions?
While the Moathouse Respawn will become a quest, technically, in the next release, it's not a quest now and never has been. There's nothing further to resolve with Kent. Be glad he asks you about cake and dragons now - if Livonya hadn't scripted him as in-depth as she did he would only ask about cake.
Thanks for the clarification, now I don't have to keep pestering Kent for something he won't do with regards to the quest.
Sorry for thread ressurrection but... Where is Kent? EDIT: nevermind, found him in the very south of Hommlet.
Have been through the respawn three times in 7.4.0. Worked fine all three times. Only the solo was a real challenge though.
