It's good to see that you linked most of your characters to the characters in game, which I haven't done yet. After reading your post, I suddenly felt that my party also must have history and to be linked in game. I've been playing ToEE for 4 years now and the only thing that keeps me on going is the NC made by the Co8 modders. Since my first year of playing, power gaming is my thing w/o knowing that a LG (which is my first pick of party) must not butcher a town, solving a quest from Wilfrick regarding the plot of the Scarlet Brotherhood's assassination then suddenly I butchered all the people in Verbobonc including Wilfrick, which doesn't make sense (I saved him then killed him?). That time all I care is the level and how strong I'll become but then I realized that I'm starting to lose my willingness to play the game it's because that I feel so stronger that it makes the game easy and now lacks difficulty. Well it has been 2 years since I balance my past gaming experience and decided to stop my urge to do power gaming and focus on the story and now want to make a story of my party and feel the spirit. ;)

Now if I may ask, can you help me on creating a story of my own? I kinda like how you create your characters, linking them into something big. Well to start. I was thinking the same thing on my TN Female Elf Wizard, to be linked into one of the bad ass guys in ToEE, for instance Hedrack? How about Oohlgrist or Scorpp :twitch:? Anyways I'll just input some of their details and help me in creating a story and their plot.

    Eriogo Greyhawk
    Gender: Male
    Class: Fighter
    Alignment: Lawful Evil
    Deity: Hextor
    Race: Human
Details: Strong, Arrogant, Hot Headed, he cares for his half brother Tyrien Lightfist (mother side)

    Tyrien Lightfist
    Gender: Male
    Class: Cleric
    Alignment: Lawful Good
    Deity: Pelor
    Race: Human
Details: Strong, Righteous, Patient, he also cares for his half brother Eriogo Greyhawk (mother side)

    Altaris Swiftblade
    Gender: Female
    Class: Rogue
    Alignment: True Neutral
    Deity: Olidammara
    Race: Human
    Details: Nimble, Strong, Charming.

    Selene Nightfang
    Gender: Female
    Class: Wizard
    Alignment: True Neutral
    Deity: Weejas
    Race: Elf
    Details: Intelligent, Quick, Lustful.

Hope to see your comment. ;)

Thanks for the nice comments emo_ome! I'll work on that back story for you :)

I could have gone into much greater detail with the first two characters, as i have been using them for years (i have even drawn them - i went to school for Animation, a degree that i sadly have had difficulty finding employment in, especially in this economy! ... i work as a video editor instead doing online video adverts)... When i play a game like this, or Wizardry (currently enjoying the one on the PSN right now while waiting for the 7.0 version of this game)... i like to imagine and create my characters in my head, to give them more depth. Yeah, it makes the game have a bit more meaning. :) And keeps my creative side going! LOL The other two i just created on the fly as I also normally play a LG or CG, maybe NG character. So this was a neat creative exercise to flesh out different personalities and world views than i normally envision. Obviously Ravenblade is an antihero, she's walking a dangerous line towards becoming darker than that which she seeks to destroy...

I also have a tendency to power game and that is something I'm trying to throw away. But I never wiped populations for XP heheh
But one of the reasons that makes players to power game is that all games in all combat situations punish us with death when we lose a battle. I wish there were other possible outcomes like: during the middle of a battle right after throwing some AoE spell you could try to run away or you could initiate dialog and try to persuade (eg give them money, bluff about something) to spare you.

One reason for not powergaming is trying to beat the game with a weaker party.
I find interesting the idea of having a big clumsy strong orc whose childhood dream is to be a rogue. Or a dumb wizard with low intelligence. Or a fighter with very low intelligence such that his dialog would make him look retarded. These ideas could be really awesome if there were proper bantering.

You obviously haven't had the joy of a Chaotic Evil party.

"Akuji, you told me the Miller was okay with me switching faiths! Now he fired me and threw me out in the streets! I can't believe I'm homeless ... and penniless ... how could this happen? What? No, I haven't seen any of the Badgers around. Do you need ... ACK!"

Nothing like helping out the good citizens of Homlett with their problems by beating up others and then stabbing them in the shoulder after they thank you for your help and kindness.

Thought she was doing evil for the greater good, like revan in swkotor. So her purpose is to assault Lareth in the moathouse while manipulating her party members.. good story indeed.
