Just wondering, If a paladin does 'use' the services offered by the brothel house -
snake pit @ Nulb, doesnt he become Fallen?

My paladin did once, since 'he' became so curious at the those services...

    hehhehe

But still a paladin, not a fallen...

Falling is probably not evenly implemented in Nulb.

Speaking of whores, should Verbobonc have a whorehouse or a red light district?

LOL only if it has a catchy, clever name :twitch: yeah, why not!!! and more brothel "quests" could be implemented there!! :pelvicthr hahaha :chick::hug::chick::chick:

    but seriously..

Is Verbobonc being expanded? Maybe the proposed new "red light" district could be outside the renovated Arena of Heroes, an "Entertainment District" LOL

That is, if you decide to also add a modern setting for that, instead of just the historical one that is currently modded through the magic of the book. I saw Gaear you were kinda considering the post of someone else who asked if the Arena could also be fully implemented in the current city of Verb? I think that is a great idea... maybe it could be randomized fights for randomized loot ... or a different series of battles similar to the original mod... or a place to fight really CHALLENGING fights. Maybe they could be one on one bouts, like with Tolub??? fought for honor and coin... Maybe it could even be Non-Lethal damage, or it could be to the death ..?

oh, and uh... ARE Paladins gonna be affected by this? (the brothels) i'd rather they didn't ...

As to the drinking problems of Paladins - in fact my Paladin Jaana likes to drink her beer and ales from the tavernkeeper directly, but knows if she or another party member engages in the actual DRINKING CONTEST she Falls... lol i guess it's OK to indulge in moderate, sensible quantities???

Shouldn't all towns have a red light district?

I have a side, somewhat related question. What exactly does ale/food do?

It seems my party can survive without buying food and drink, what does buying food and drink actually do then?

I'm pretty sure it's prostitutes who are the first-and-last-and-always. ;)

You'd think so. Even Hommlet should have a whore or two; they're not that good ...

Verbobonc would certainly have legions. It's a large city (by Greyhawk standards), and big cities are always filled with a mix of decency and seediness (DnD translator: good and EVIL) that inevitably trends closer to the seedy side in general.

Our section of Verbo is probably not big enough to contain an entire 'district' though, so a whorehouse would be more appropriate.

This all begs the question though: would it add anything beyond atmosphere? Atmosphere is well and good, but there are probably better things we could spend our time and resources on ... unless players spend a lot of time buying prostitutes?

That whole thing always seemed kind of anticlimactic (no pun intended) to me: make the deal and fade to black (with creaky bed springs fx added by Co8 - yay!). I don't know how we could make it any 'better,' so to speak, without turning things into a quasi-porno experience. I don't think anybody really plays the game for that.

Still, a little tease goes a long way. (i.e., there is some implied sex in virtually every cRPG out there, so people must want it.)

    I dont think so Gaear....

I just go to the brothel at Nulb to complete the quest. After that, i kill those damned whores.
They dont pretty much do anything else...

Unless you want to make Co8 release a 'real' sex-rpg game.....

I want more outdoor adventures, dragons, evil wizards, undeads, raiding goblins, magic items
    the list goes on.....

    just my opinion....

Maybe there could be a joinable npc who's really good at one thing. :dead::chick:

Maybe it becomes the hub for evil quests, like Smythe is in Homlett. Go see the madam and ask for something different.

I share ayoshi's opinion. I don't want the Circle of Eight team to spend their time and effort creating a whorehouse in Verbobonc - it would be a waste of time for me. There's already a whorehouse in Nulb. One whorehouse should be enough (if not one too many) for any game! I'd MUCH prefer the Circle of Eight team to devote their time and effort to creating new maps to explore and new opponents to fight!

Corporal Holly's dialogue file leads me to believe that you can sleep with her if you play your cards right (the cute little slapper!).

I like GG's idea of a Madam being the "evil" quest originator.

She could even send you to a certain whore that knows a certain person and so on ....

There's also already two blacksmyths! :p And who's to say you wouldn't explore and fight on a new whorehouse map?

The hub idea is interesting, but generally Nulb is considered Hommlet's evil counterpart. (Because they are all evil in Nulb ... EVIL!)

    hi Gaear

how about creating guilds in verbobonc? each guildmaster has different quest and only given
if you have the same class e.g. fighter guild only accepts fighters

well you only got to have at least one fighter, if you have no fighter in your party then
you cant avail the quest of the guildmaster

    Sounds fun? :dribble:

And...one more important thing - you could hire npc in their guilds....
well maybe lower price if you have a fighter in your party if your hiring
also a fighter in the fighters guild?

I do not believe I am saying this, cause I usually like it, but I really do not want guild (quest) in this game.. I just do not feel like it adds to the TOEE experience.

Maybe, and that is a maybe, the only guild outpost I could see in the maps that are created would be thieves guild, or any other kind of "shady" guilds. Since the other guilds would probably be in a different part of Verbobonc.
