No. I tried that first, could not ever trip him over. So I tried just hack him down instead. I had four level 18 barbarians enraged with +3 axiomatic weapons and belts of giant strength +6. Spells I had were mass cats grace, bears endurance, bulls strength, greater heroism, haste and that bardic song thing. I killed everything else before touching Hedrack. Then I surrounded his spawnplace with my frontliners and shot some arrows on Heddie. Rest is history.

But the thing that turned it to my favor were those regenerateing amulets, he kept bashing just one of my PCs and managed to take only one cleave against another PC. Though the only target had like -307 HPs. Also I was able to score a hit with every attack, including my archers. I'm thinking corrupt save file.

And the xp I got was less than from the slavers, fivethousand or so and loot only some leather gloves and boots.

That is pretty lousy for killing an avatar of a God. Shame you can not loot his sword. NOW that would be worth the 5k xp.

A modder needs to give him some better stuff. Nothing crazy, but even a cloak of resistance or a ring of protection would be better than nothing, or how about a bag full of gems, or something.

When I took him out, I had 5 14th level characters, and a 13th level wizard (behind due to crafting). An enlarged halforc monk with improved trip kept him down. St Cuthbert did come, but I don't think he can see him if he's prone. It took me a while to kill him, even had 2 huge Earth Elementals helping out, but I'm sure my equipment did not measure up to yours. I believe I got over 50,000xp for him, but that included everyone else in the fight too.

A modder needs to fix the encounter so that silly bored players stop using exploits trying to kill gods' avatars. Iuz in TOEE is a cameo, not a real enemy.

Still, props to Rocktoy for taking the guy out w/o abusing Fragarach. I am guessing that Cuthbert never showed up, or did you do it within the few rounds given?

I dissagree. If Troika made a specific ending for killing Iuz they ment that it should be possible. And as you said I killed only Iuz's avatar not his essence. Remember that Cuthbert was also once a mortal and ascended to godhood, IMO that path should be open also to the palyer.

Thanks and no Cuthbert never showed up. But I think I got Iuz down before Cuthbert should have appeared. In the first turn I was able to take five attacks per barbarian each dealing damage 15 - 30 points with a total of sum 400 (as I said I had placed my melee fighters so that they could attack, or get in with 5foot steps, as soon as Iuz appears. Yes, bad roleplaying). Then Iuz hackked my tank to unconsciouss and I used two Heal spells to get her back up and did the same again. So after two turns I dealt aprox. 700 points of damage. I couldn't bring my tank back the second time, but I'm pretty sure I was able to hack Iuz down in three or four turns.

I think that Iuz sword should do some real damage and not be hindered by the wound closure amulets. After all it is a sword of a god.

Btw. You can use the same tacticks with any opponent: just keep healing the one amulet bearer your enemies are attacking. They won't change targets so you can use the rest of your group to hack 'em down, one by one if necessary. :)

Iuz should probably be untrippable, at least. Tripping a god seems silly.

He is humanoid shaped, has two feet, and his Strength score must not be that high, so yes, he should be trippable.

I meant 5k for each of my eight characters, so the total would be some 40k, but it was still less than from the slavers.

True and I can see how an enlarged half-orc can do that, but a normal size humanoid? Maybe no.

Ok, that makes a little more sense. I agree that the amount is pretty low, but for what it is worth, you fight SEVEN slavers versus just one Avatar for the XP amounts

Well even though Iuz is Humanoid, he may have extra balance, but that is a situational exploit that the player has to decide if he/she wants to use.

As I suggested in another thread, IMO Periapt should be nerfed by allowing AI to Coup de Grace.

Been wondering about this: does he die for good if you destroy the skull before slaying him? I've only managed to send him to the Abyss.
