    I'm sorry I forgot to put in the poke emoticon in my previous post (yes the "I want to be able to teleport out of trouble too" was a smartass comment on my part, as my thieves don't pick any pockets except to complete a certain quest in KoTB). I definitely agree that it is much better that the "Innocent" (??) bystanders don't get involved in the fight(s) wherever they may occur. The more I think about it, the more I strongly believe that what Pearl should do after Dala is caught "red-handed" is ......... absolutely nothing. For starters there the fact that she runs away means she must be guilty of something. Yes all the other bystanders clear the "combat zone", but none of them actually leave the building. From a role-playing perspective, by running out of the building, Pearl is drawing attention to herself, which is the last thing any pickpocket would want to do.
    I will have to go back to the Hostel to see if Dala's stuff (plus whatever she stole from my thief if anything) is laying on the floor.

    Darley's prototype states that she has the special attack Smite Good. I recruited Darley but I couldn't figure out how to use this special attack, so I'm guessing that she can't use that ability.

    Darley's Necklace can't be unequipped from Darley's neck. What's the story (if any) with that item? What special powers (if any) does Darley's Necklace have?

    While Darley is in my party, all of the NPC vendors in the Bazaar of the Bizarre (Senshock, Ariel and Bella) refuse to trade with my party (see screenshot below). I think that this is unrealistic because these NPCs are evil, and Senshock's room has monsters in it (Quasits and Elementals) so he would be used to dealing with monsters (and not scared of them).

    I've got bad news, Gaear. When my party got arrested by a Verbobonc Guard and put in jail, and when the Attorney said his spiel and my party was taken to the Verbobonc square, and after the NPC asked if I had any final words and I replied that I regretted my actions and he said "May Pelor have mercy on your souls" or whatever he says, after his dialogue ended, nothing happened. My party wasn't killed by Flamestrikes - all of the Verbobonc Guards, Gnome Guards, and Clerics of Pelor just stood there. My party could freely move about. I travelled elsewhere on the World Map, and when I came back to Verbobonc, all of the Guards and Clerics were still standing in their square formation (see screenshots below). When I clicked on the Verbobonc Guard closest to the centre of the Verbobonc square, he said "Good day" in floating text.

    The thing is, Pearl's a part of the Waterside Hostel faction (necessary so that if you attack her, Rentsch and Wat et al will defend her). As long as she's in that faction, she will join and do something in any combat with the others, so being as she's essentially helpless, I think it's best if she just runs away. I would moreso interpret her actions as is trying to save her own skin instead of going down with all the rest.

    I had a really long look at that crazy web phenomenon, and so far there appears to be no way of stopping it beyond making them flee to a point outside the likely battle area, thus reducing the likelihood that they'll be caught up in AoE spells. For some reason, even though their mobs run off and they exit the combat queue etc., they don't actually leave the map until combat is over. It wouldn't happen if we made them flee to a point outside the area of the map, but for some reason (remember, this is ToEE), when you set it up that way, they don't execute any running away animations. They just disappear, which makes it look decidedly like they're just magically disappearing rather than running away. :roll:

    I'll look at those.

    Unfortunately I still don't know what controls that, so there's nothing I can do about it.

    That's a fluke. A funny fluke, but still a fluke.

    Is the wizard spell Acid Fog non-functional? Every time I select it when leveling up, it fails to make it into my spell book. So I've wasted a spell selection. Not a big deal losing a spell given all the scrolls available in Verbobonc, but a high levelk acid spell would be cool.

    I Gotcha. It appears to be one of those "darned if you mod, damned if you don't" sort of things. Not a problem, I can live with the odd visual effects. By the way, one other thing that I noticed on an earlier run: Dala only attempts to pick your pocket ONCE. Did you change that ?? If so I wholeheartedly approve.

    Yeah ... but come on, she stole the Robe of Midnight right off of my back. I mean literally, I was wearing it before entering and POOF it was gone and she was wearing it right in front of my bard.

    Either she's really really good, or my bard was really really side tracked.

    Kind of funny though, if you think about it.

    Hi Chet
    You do know the best way to catch her don't you ?? Make sure that the first person to enter the hostel is the PC with the highest "Spot" score (and it should be 10, preferably 12 or higher). With the party standing outside the Hostel, select the person with the Highest Spot and have him walk in. Of course for added "insurance" you may want to make sure someone else in the party is carrying his important magic items.

    The Spruce Goose Inn seems to give double healing. At least my level 20 character heals 40 HP at a time there, but not in other resting places.

    Also, if anyone wants to check out NPC stats, just look at their skills. Each skill when selected will show the bonus from the appropriate attribute. That at least gives you a range of two possible values for the attribute (e.g. if the skill bonus is +3, then the attribute is either 16 or 17).

    I dominated three of the non-evil high level clerics in the game (Terjon, the Pelor guy in Verb, and Calmert) to see if they would do some crafting for my solo wizard. None of them have any crafting feats! They must be importing their magic items for sale. Maybe I should check out Burne and the lady in Nulb as well.....are they all just middlemen/women? What about Mother?

    I'm guessing the Scarlet Brotherhood loses interest in you if you do any law and order type quests for the Verb authorities. Last game they never gave me any quests, and I had already done the fugitives, and maybe the drow. This time I went to them first, completed the first quest, accepted the second, did the fugitives and drow/dragon, and monster mash, and then wouldn't get recognition from them after I successfully and secretly murdered the guard. They don't seem to respect the CN point of view.

    I'm suggesting the skills check as a faster way to find out. Don't have to wait for a level up or four.

    I wasn't aware of that, will check.

    No, there's a scripted interval of two hours that I think has been there since vanilla.

    There's a flag that controls that (it's also set for the upper floor of the Welcome Wench), with the rationale being that when you are safe in bed, you rest 'better.' It's set upstairs at the WW since there are beds and it's safe, likewise both floors of the Spruce Goose. Not so anywhere in Nulb, since Nulb is generally not safe.

    Thanks for pointing that out though - it should have been added to Jylie's Inn upper floor in Verbo and the first and second floors of the castle as well.

    Actually that's most likely due to a bug that counted deaths of guards at other places (like Welkwood Bog) as counting toward the Constable Killer rep. Do you have that rep?

    Darlia only checks against flags for one guard being killed by you without the guard calling for backup, not anything to do with alignment. You could test this by entering the following codes in the console and noting what they return:

    You could also console-fix the flags by entering:

    This will allow you to proceed with Darlia.

    I never knew that about healing at the various inns.
    I'll have to try out your suggestions on my next run through: I consoled the constable killer quest as completed when Darlia wouldn't acknowledge it. It is very likely that I completed the Pelor priest ambush after getting the constable killer quest but before completing it or talking to Darlia again. I got my revenge on him by turning him in to Wilfrick after getting the Wilfrick assassination quest.
    I actually liked the idea of Darlia not wanting to deal with someone who is going around completing quests for the forces of law and order. I'd think they might even try to assassinate (or frame?) me if I joined them but then turned back to the authorities.
