I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

I am sick again. Or maybe still sick...I don't think I ever got completely over the secondary bronchitis I got after the flu. Not enough sleep the last 3 or 4 days, all the stress from work, I think just caught up with me.

Sometimes life just plain sucks. What you get from using a straw, I guess. There must be some type of lesson there, but darned if I can see it.

Meanwhile, Lexi is sleeping on my feet. I think I'll do us both a favor and go to bed. I just don't have the energy to deal with anything more tonight.

I hope you wake up in the morning.

    May the Lady smile
    on you.

    G'Night.

    Cold

    Cold, cold, cold.
    Everything is so
    cold. The night
    stretches it's long
    arms, embraces
    me in cold.

    Goosebumps rise
    and fall on my skin.
    My insides are frozen.
    Ice rivers crawl through
    my veins. My brain
    shivers.

    Even the hot tears
    that wash salt down
    my face do not
    warm the cold.

    Icicles drape my
    heart, thudding
    hard with each
    beat, sinking sharp
    icy slivers painfully
    deep.

    Painfully. Ahhh yes,
    the pain. Pain lets
    us know we are alive,
    does it not? Isn't that
    what they say?

    Should I be grateful?

Or maybe an irregular sleep schedule that doesn't allow you to get enough deep sleep.

Lack of sleep OR too much un-dealt with stress is enough to prevent recovery from minor illness. You will always be feeling fatigued and having to work harder to focus on a task.

Just take care of yourself. Everything else can wait.

Keeping you in my thoughts, O Queen.

The buzzards are flying so low that their shadows are flying inside on my walls and floors. They are roosting in a tree across the road from my house. There must be a hundred of them.

    This is pretty scary.

I hope you had a good day and the night goes well.

After the buzzards got done roosting, they all left. Hopefully they are not coming back. I guess they do middle of the day roosting even when it is not particularly warm outside. I always thought it was because they were hot.

Although I like birds (most birds), seeing large bird shadows flying on your walls and floor is creepy. I was glad when the buzzards left. And glad that Lexi doesn't go outside.

Nothing much new with me. Still coughing. But able to sleep enough and working.

I hope you wake up in the morning.

I see that there are some buzzard hangers-on at the tree they were roosting on yesterday. Only about half a dozen that I can see. Sure are big birds. I guess they are puffed up to keep warm.

I hope the rest of them don't come back.

Well, so much for hoping. They are back. All 100+ of them.

On my walls and floors, their shadows soar again.

Every so often, the ones who are perched in the tree lift their wings and hold them out for a minute or two, then close them again. Catching the sun? You'd think they get enough of that soaring as high as they do. But maybe it isn't very warm way up there in the sky.

Someone is shooting at them but must be a poor shot, because the buzzards aren't taking off.
Or falling out of the tree, either.

We'll have law enforcement out here soon, I imagine.

I'm going to sleep (I work tonight) so maybe they'll be gone when I wake up.

Does anyone else ever have anything like this happen?

Granted, everyone in the neighborhood can see these buzzards and anyone passing by, too, so it's not just me, but I have never before in my life had buzzard shadows soaring inside my house.

Nor have I ever heard of anyone else having that happen.

I think I will ask the exorcist what he thinks about all this.

(Refrains from making snide comments about bathing more often.)

Honestly, while having buzzards about is pretty creepy, I don't think you have much to worry about. They are more of of a nuisance than a danger. They are probably taking a break from migrating elsewhere.

Now if it was an owl or a raven...

Or a Murder of Crows... :nervous:

(Happy this well bathed one doesn't have to make a snide comment back.)

I don't think the buzzards here migrate. I see them all year around. They just seem to change where they roost fairly often. Considering their size, I can understand why...

I was told that buzzards indicate change. The exorcist says since their shadows are inside my house, it indicates spiritual change. I have been directed to write my thoughts on this.

I guess the exorcist is back in my life again. As messed up as some things are, that's probably a good thing.

Think I'd prefer ravens. And I get owls at work. At least 2 great horned owls and 1 screech owl that I know of. And when I was home more at night, I heard an occasional owl in the trees in my yard.

Now if it was a flock of 100+ owls, that would be something.

The first buzzards...early birds...have landed. More are circling. Shadows soaring on the walls/floor yet again.

    I'm off to bed.

I agree with the exorcist. The buzzards don't foreshadow misfortune. They're just creepy.

If they are there all year, they've probably found a source of food or a good place to roost near your home.

I hope you had a good day and the night went well.

    Update on the buzzards:

A neighbor who was raised in the area and knows his animals says the buzzards behave that way during their mating season. Circling around, gathering in large numbers and wing spreading are all part of finding a mate. He said he has never seen this many at one time before and that they are a protected species and whoever was shooting at them could get jail time for it.

He just laughed when I told him about the shadows soaring on my walls/floors.

They have finally left the area, I think, and gone elsewhere.

I hope all of you living in the midwest are warm and cosy and don't have to go anywhere tomorrow. And to those in Australia, I hope you don't live where it is flooding and where the cyclone is supposed to hit. If you do, I hope you are safe.

I hope you wake up in the morning!

    OK here for now.

Still rough out there this early on though. Near white out conditions. REALLY strong winds and heavy snow. The BAD hits tonight and overnight.

Off tomorrow (Office was shut down! YAY!!) as pretty much everything is going to be closed. Just hope they plow by early Thursday AM so I can get to work.
