Cats are not the solitary individuals that most people believe. They actually behave more like elephants. We get cats that are separated from their litter mates and mothers. They are more or less damaged emotionally and their natural family bond ruptured. Full grown unneutered males will roam freely, and have their own 'rules' on territory/dominance etc., but also are very possessive/protective of their offspring and the females they have mated with. I think they might roam less if they have a 'family' they belong to, like elephants. But cats are basically if left alone, a matriarchy. Like a dog, a cat will attempt to make you part of their 'family.' Neutered males seem to view their 'human' as their mother, while spayed females seem to view their human as their kitten. I am not sure how unneutered cats view their 'human.' The Siamese cat, and I think others with the Siamese genes (I include the Burmese here, too) behave more like our conception of a dog than our conception of a cat.
The dark of the moon, although it sounds more sinister, seems to be a time of inner reflection. The full moon seems to be a time of doing but is also more positive. Also I don't want to make people think of werewolves. There is I discovered a Cold Moon. So maybe that is a good compromise.
Even better October 31 is the Feast day for Bast. I was originally thinking along the lines of Hecate but she is associated with dogs, and weasels.
Not really dark MAGIC. Stealth. It's amazing how bright a moonlit night is. In memory it seems like daylight, but colorless.
The Cold Moon is associated with winter. I think it is either January or February. Could be wrong on the month. Why Bast?
I have no idea if I am doing this right, but if I did, this is a poor pic of Lexi. She doesn't hold still for long. And I don't know how to make the pic smaller, sorry.
Hopefully, this is a pic of alex. he holds still better. But I still don't know how to make it smaller. Or turn it around either.
I hope you had a good day and the night went well. It's getting on toward morning. Lexi appears to be the boss of the house. At least where Alex is concerned, and maybe where I am, too. Amazing how easily Alex decided to yield his position as alpha cat. Maybe because Lexi is female, even if just a kitten. Or maybe because he knows how important it is to me that they get along. Regardless, Lexi does whatever she wants and Alex just watches her do it. I, on the other hand, follow around behind her cleaning up the mess. It's been awhile since I've had a kitten and I forgot how they can tear up a house. She's knocked over my plants and climbed the lace curtains in the dining area off the kitchen. Zooming around the corner of the counter, she tipped over the water bowl. She has scattered papers that were on the kitche table and unrolled an entire roll of paper towels. Her favorite toy is something that looks like a ferret without legs. Or a tail with eyes and a nose. I tied a long thong around the toy's nose and drag it around so Lexi can chase it. She gets going so fast that she has to use all four feet to brake when I pull it back in the other direction. Either that or flip over backwards. She is a riot to watch. To all who sleep tonight on this side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Wild little kittens still have to give in to sleep eventually, and do you. Wake up in the morning to little cat paws walking...on you. May the Lady smile on me and you too. G'Night!
Gorgeous cats, O Queen. Would love to see additional photos, if possible. Alex is quite the handsome beast. Love Lexi's eyes.
Alex is quite handsome. And Lexi has striking eyes. Thanks. Lousy pics. I'm not very good at cell phone pics yet. But I'll have more. Hopefully better ones.
I hope you had a good day and the night went well. No bunnies or turkeys on the road to work tonight. A quiet night, no calls. Poor Lexi doesn't get much attention when I am working. 10 hr shifts working and 9 hrs sleeping doesn't leave a lot of time for petting and playing, and that doesn't include travel time and getting ready for work. I am glad she has Alex to harass, and I think he might even enjoy it as well. She is going through the fake mice like mad. I'll have to buy another package of them Monday. Luckily, her favorite toy, the ferret-like tail thing, is too big to lose easily. To all who sleep (and/or wake up) tonight on this side of the earth, The Nightly Mission: Even the sweet dreams you have in sleep must yield to reality when you wake up. May the Lady smile on me and you too. G'Night.
