Just went to rescue the witch from the Drow and went for the reward rather than the ring of resonance. I will have to say that 2 out of the 4 are pretty cheap of the biatch. A +1 morning star or about 5k in gems. Better just to get the periapt of wound closure or the force ring, or if you are so inclined, wade in and waste her butt and get the ring of resonance.

Makes you wonder if you had maybe dominated her sister and had her with you when you rescue the "good witch"....Now that I have mentioned it, I will have to try that with my next game and see what, if anything, may be said. :)

No, at least I have not been able to. Once she gives you the reward for rescuing her, she teleports away. No chance for an extra shakedown.

One thing I found out is if you charge right at the Drow and not try to talk to them, you can recover that map. Then if you do not tell the witch about it, you can keep it. From there, if you are ever close to losing a battle, instead of a power word reload, you can travel to that area where the Drow and witch were located.

I have tried this already and there was no further harm to the group. Now I will have to test this with the fight with Hedrack and Iuz, before Cuthbert shows up and then travel back. I want to see if Iuz will still be standing around with his thumb up his bum waiting for my return or no. :D

I hear ya, but I kinda like that periapt for my main basher, so to save the cost of raising him as well as letting him keep the xp from the battle should he go down.

    lol wicked

hmmm regarding the 4 lvls of fighter mixed in with monk... interesting idea im not sre what youd lose as a monk/fi

and give the number of unarmed attacks a monk should get per round as lvls progress how would 4 fight lvls help that?

The bab from the fighter should stack with your monk, so that you would have that for your number of attacks. You do lose out on 4 levels of monk abilities, so take it for what you will. A little heavier hitter or the semi nifty monk tricks.

Ok on my plan to go after Hedrack and friends, I came in the back way. For those that are not aware of it, once you have Orb of Golden Death and the throne from the temple moves, you can enter Zuggy's inner sanctom. From there go east and where all the symbols are, there is a one way doorway that will take you til level 4 of the temple. There you enter the northernmost room with the bouncing balls of fungus lay about.

Killed them off and go into the room where Hedrack has all his chests guarded by all those oozes, fungi critters, and black puddings. I tried out and was successful with killing a 160 hp Black Pudding with a Slay Living spell. Never thought they would be considered fair game for that spell, but sure was. :)

You would have to start as a fighter, since monks can't multiclass and continue as a monk. But this might not be a bad thing as monks are weak early one, and the added HPs and ability to use any weapon early on will help. You can specialize in unarmed strikes, but never use one until you start taking monk levels.

yeah unfortunatly it's oo late for my current monk t try it unless i wait til he is 16th lvl LOL

and personally i like the monks nifty ablities too much and am happy enough with the weap focuse/monks belt boost and a greater magic weap or magic fang both of which work on unarmed for monk . that Ive no problem passing on the fighter lvls in favour of a pure monk

So back to my plan to see what happens with Hedrack and friends and the showdown with Iuz. I start the battle and allow Hedrack to call on Iuz. Iuz shows up, gives his speech and fails to control my group. I then use the map to escape and then for the heck of it, wait over a 100 days to see what may happen. I again use the back door to get to Hedrack and make my way south. There still standing around is Iuz and a now healed up Hedrack. Now I will see if the battle starts right away or will I get any new speeches.

Well Iuz just gives his same speeches, but Hedrack started battle as soon as you try to talk to him again. Survived and decided to try something I never had before.

I went and talked to Iuz and decided to see what would happen if I made a deal with him with the Orb. I knew no good would come of it, but I had to see. Iuz double crossed me and made my orb carrier, my Rogue/Ranger, his thrall. Battle commenced and the RR was beating up on Hedrack's minions as well as my other characters. Iuz and Cuthbert do their talk and go away, but my RR is still under Iuz's spell. I win the battle and the RR seems to calm down, BUT when I try to use the radial menu, nothing happens. I can move him around and manipulate him inventory, but that is it.

Going into combat, the RR is like he is either under a confusion spell or just under computer control. Kinda like an animal companion or summoned creature. He no longer attacked the rest of the party, but I can only move him around and have him be my spokesperson. I even tried doing the Jaroo permanency heal and that was a no go. Though it was interesting that he was wearing the periapt of wound closure, so he was all blue from non leathal damage.

Correction-once I took off the periapt and tried the Jaroo heal again, I can now control the RR, though at some cost. The permanency heal ended up killing him, so I had to raise him up and he was back at the starting mid point of his level.

Not worth saving, so having done this experiment, I will go back and defeat Iuz and his gang as I planned.
