The Royal Canadian, thank you for answering my questions on page 12 of this thread.

In my playthrough of 5.9.2 NC, I encountered a bug that I have never encountered before while playing this game. 2 potions of Cure Light Wounds that I looted won't stack with any other potions of Cure Light Wounds. I looted the 2 potions from either the bugbears, gnolls or brigands/guardsmen in the moathouse dungeon.

I MUCH prefer the new saved game descriptions of stating the name of the place (map) instead of vague references to the place!

In 5.9.1 NC, Armario (the cabinet maker) would not initially sell me any normal items. In 5.9.2 NC, he now offers to sell me normal items before he has made masterwork items.

It's possible to fight Lubash (the ogre in the moathouse dungeon) without Lubash being able to fight back. All you have to do is enter the small room to the north of the room that Lubash is in, open the door between the 2 rooms, position your archers/crossbowmen so that they are just able to have a line-of-sight with Lubash, and then just fire arrows/bolts at Lubash with impunity. It's also possible to do the same thing from the corridor to the south of the room that Lubash is in. Could you please modify this situation so that Lubash can't be killed this way? It's not fair for Lubash.

In 5.9.1 NC, when I fought the brigands in the courtyard outside the moathouse, the brigands had their turns individually. In 5.9.2 NC, 4 brigands (who all had their portraits adjacent to each other in the initiative order at the top of the screen) all acted (had their turns) simultaneously! I hated this happening - it is very disconcerting and hard to keep track of what each brigand is doing! Have these brigands been modified since 5.9.1 NC (such as by being mobbed in instead of scripted in)? If so, then I MUCH prefer the old way that these brigands fought!

When I have the option enabled to give NPCs maximum HP based on HD, Terjon has approximately 170 HP. When I have the option enabled to give NPCs maximum HP based on HD AND the option enabled to give NPCs maximum HP based on level, Terjon has 263 HP.

What is DH an acronym for? Is it an acronym for the Desperate Housewives quest/mod?

The D&D 3.5 SRD states the following:

Note: The official rules don't state whether using a 2-handed weapon AND a buckler reduces the Strength Bonus damage from 1.5x to 1x. This computer game is reducing the Strength Bonus damage to 1x.

Hopefully that's already not the case in 5.9.2.

    Why?

No, no work done on any of that, and no reason for it to magically change between modpacks ... except that this is ToEE.

It's always been that way, and it was probably designed like that by Troika as an out for players who simply can't get past him. How would we change it anyway? He can't fit through the doors, period. That's nuts and bolts engine stuff.

Do you have the concurrent turns box ticked in the game preferences tab?

As to the "was this changed in x.x.x?" question that keeps popping up, people, we don't keep secrets as to what is modified in the mods. Read the changelog. If you see "changed the courtyard brigands so they all go at once," then you've got something to go on. If not, then rest assured that we didn't have a late-night smoke-filled room meeting where we decided to mod it and not tell anybody. The changelog is rather meticulously maintained so that everyone can know exactly what's going on, all the time.

Also, as far as reporting bugs on engine mechanics goes, feel free to post them here, but I don't give them much priority. Co8 already spent many years trying to straighten all that stuff out, and by and large we did a good job of it. I'm mainly interested now in straightening out our new content, as well as fixing any genuine bugs that people come across (like no assassin encounter, etc.). Stat-related incongruities and breathless reports on the at times bizarre behavior of ToEE's game mechanics are simply not going to attract much attention from me, largely because much of that stuff is hard-coded and we can't do anything about it anyway. That ship has sailed. If a new .dll guy comes along and wants to have a crack at it, fine.

Have a look at the 'Atari Bug List' thread in the General Modification forum to see if some of this stuff is already mentioned there ... and to get an idea of just how many unanswered bugs remain in this game. There are hundreds, depending on how nitpicky you get, and they are almost certainly never going to all be fixed.

I tested the buckler issue myself, and indeed I am only doing 1X str damage when the buckler is equipped with a 2H weapon, and 1.5 without the buckler. I concur that according to the rules this is incorrect, the wielding of the buckler should only cause a -1 hit penalty, and not effect the damage at all.

I guess it's hard for non-modders to tell whether a bug requires messing with the DLL or whether it can be fixed with scripting. From their point of view, I suppose, fixing inventory respawn is every bit as miraculous as meddling with damage bonuses :)

OK, I've failed. Where the hell are those Slavers. Sir Loin DeBoeuf has worn tracks across the landscape trudging between every location on his map looking for these fiends to smite and the chance of rescuing small children.
Help please, a small clue, anything.
    Cheers

Strangest thing happened when i was travelling to emridy meadows in 5.92.
I met the giant as a random encounter, killed him and delivered his head to the blacksmith.
I then proceeded to Emridy Meadows to collect the cloak and the giant was there alive and well.

Don't take it! It's all we have left after the Blade of Fury was taken!

I am done with Emridy in my game so I went back to see if this would replicate for me as well. However, there was no giant. Out of curiousity Chano, had you been gone long enough for the corpses to disappear or did you go right back? In my case, enough time had passed where the corpses had disappeared.

    No doubt.

Was it on the scrub map, by day? That's just a random encounter with a giant, and you're entirely right to use his head for the MW items quest. There's nothing that actually says you have to get the head from the giant at EM.

    Gaear,

Sorry if my posts seem like complaints. They are not. I am merely trying to bring up some issues I have. I know firsthand how hard it is to mod and I hold you in the highest esteem. Hope no hard feelings.

That being said, I have played more of 5.9.2 and have the following comments:

I like the witch fight a lot more now. Before it was too easy. Now it is a lot better. Maybe it was because I had three fireball spells readied this time, but I still reloaded a lot. Her spell options are much better.

The drow/witch fight is also much improved. I had a hard time killing the wizard with spells which was good. I was surprised to see they had no lootable armor, though not a complaint.

I also like the changes to Arena. It makes it more difficult, which is good.

I havent even started Temple yet and I am level 8 or 9. I will do Verb soon and hope to enjoy the assassin quests.

Gaear, is there any solution to hunting down the bandits other than the three of them turning on you in Hommlet? Is there anyway to do anything more than that?

Also, when you kill Gunther in Hommlet his dead body is laying on the floor in the Verb inn.
